Shravani Subramanya: Wholesome Entertainer
Posted date: 29 Sun, Dec 2013 – 12:16:10 PM
Manju Swaraj, who made the thriller Shishira a couple of years back is back with a neat romantic family drama. This is one of those rare films that despite being a romantic film has all the thrills associated with a thriller. That does not mean there is lots of action and fights. These are to a minimum. The thrill is of romance and the anticipation that grows on the audience about what happens to the lead pair. Ganesh and Amulya, who are playing the lead roles in a film after a long gap (Cheluvina Chittara was their first and last), make for a lively pair on screen. If anything, Shravani Subramany is a notch better than Cheluvina Chittara. This is one of the must-see films of Sandalwood this year.

Shravani elopes with her lover and just about manages to become a rape and murder victim. It is Subramanya who saves her after being at the right place at the right time. But this saving the damsel in distress becomes a problem for him. The onus of taking care of her falls on him as her family does not want her back. Unwillingly Subramanya lives with her. For the next six months, they live like friends without benefits. As their love story developes, they learn about love from another couple; the middle-aged Tara and Anant Nag. Their past comes to haunt them when the killer comes back for Shravani. To make matters worse, her family too wants her back now. Will Subramanya manage to save his love is the question that is answered in a beautiful narration.

Ganesh and Amulya are a made-for-each-other pair and their acting is effortless. Manju Swaraj makes it look like a real romance between the two. The show stoppers are Anant Nag and Tara. The veteran show why they are the best in business with their romantic story that defies age. Their characters are one of the best seen in films in recent times. Yashas turns a baddie in this film and could well become a `wanted` villain in Sandalwood. Avinash, Neenasam Ashwath and Sadhu Kokila are good in their limited roles. Harikrishna`s masterclass shows in this film and all the four songs are good to hear as well as see. You will be missing something if you miss this film.

Producer Suresh, who made Goindaya Namaha earlier should be commended for choosing this subject which has no violence and makes for a wholesome family entertain
